Wait, what?
Yep, out on the verandah, no less. We enjoyed dessert in the MDR the night before, and had no room for the cake we delivered to A&R, so it only made sense to enjoy it as a pre-breakfast treat. And it was a treat, too - the light, fluffy vanilla cake and the strawberry filling was so tasty!
So real breakfast was up in the Lido deck and we each took turns finding the delicious selections that would fill our bellies and we continued to sail down to Costa Maya.
We were't scheduled to dock until about 1pm on Tuesday, so that left a number of activities we could enjoy on board before our excursion into Costa Maya later in the afternoon.
Not sure I'll ever get tired of looking at that navy-aqua-blue water!
Sis and I went over to watch the ice carving demonstration. It's amazing the skill and precision that's need to carve into a giant block of ice (and how sharp the tools are!)
BNDN and RDB hung out against the rail, watching the pilot boat zoom over to guide us into the port.
I spent a little time on the Sky Course. You might think it's crazy to strap yourself into a ropes course at the very top of a cruise ship out on the water, but it was actually not only fun, but really secure. Once you were harnessed in, there was no way for your guide rope to 'fall off' the course until you were back down on deck. I was glad I got a chance to run thru it (and really wish I had done it again before the end of the cruise - it was fun!)
As we continued to get closer to docking, we ended up back out on our verandah - it was neat to see how our Captain was sort of backing us into the spot on the dock. The thrusters on our side of the side of the ship were churning up the sand at the bottom of the port and turning the water all kinds of interesting blue and aqua colors.
Did I mention, btw, that A&R were about to set foot in a foreign country for the first time in their lives? It was so wonderful to be a part of that adventure with them!
We gathered our group together and made our way down to the Northern Lights dining room to wait for our excursion.
Hola Costa Maya! We are ready for fun!
We really enjoyed our Mini Jeep adventure - you can read all about it in my next post, here.
We made it back to the port (thankfully!) and enjoyed watching the sunset as we walked back to the ship. It was the end of yet another wonderful day on vacation!
THANKS! to all of you who've dropped over from various Facebook links and CruiseCritic (*gasp*! I said those two in the same sentence!) It's been a pleasure to have you "traveling along!" Stay turned for a few more days of fabulous photos and Fun Times!
